Indian detoxification and relaxation massage, the beginnings of which are recorded 5000 years ago and is still used today. It deals with physical, mental and spiritual health and harmony. That is why she is often called the 'mother of medicine'. Ayurvedic massage physically helps all body systems – immune, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, movement, digestive, as well as lymphatic and blood circulation. Today we will talk more about Ayurvedic massage.

What is the goal of Ayurvedic massage?

The goal of Ayurveda is to purify the organism and bring the individual into a harmonious state. After an Ayurvedic oil massage of the whole body, the body gathers energy and at the same time gets rid of all harmful substances. The basic procedure is a massage with warm, sesame or herbal oil. The head, face and whole body are massaged. It also helps to flush harmful substances from the body. Massage removes stress and mental fatigue, increases the body's defenses.

Ayurvedic massage differs from other massages in that it emphasizes certain parts of the body and the sequence of individual massage procedures. Ayurveda places more emphasis on massaging the head and using oil inside the ear. Massaging the toes and feet is also of great importance.

A bit of a game of herbs

The herbs and their familiar aroma relax them. The combination of the aroma of oils, coconut oil, sesame oil, the combination of sandalwood, jasmine and herbal bag will lead the body into a pleasant relaxation, and in the hands of a professional masseur, health from nature will enter the body. It will help the client get rid of back pain and allow the necessary rest for body and soul. During the massage, bags are used that are filled with a mixture of herbs. Massage with herbal bags ranks among detoxification massages and relaxation treatments. During the massage, endorphins - hormones of happiness - are released. Herbal bags are heated in steam and applied to the body. The herbs hidden in the bags 'play' on your body and their touch will delight all your senses.

Pressing points during massage

The bags, which are heated in steam or oil, are placed on the body, so you not only clean the body, but also relax beautifully. Massage with herbal bags is particularly powerful, it purifies the immune and lymphatic system. Herbal bags remove dead cells, regenerate, stimulate metabolism, improve blood circulation and help the massaged person achieve a balance of body and soul. It is one of the oldest treatment methods. Ayurvedic massage is usually energetic and refreshing, the masseuse changes position several times. It also involves pressing the pressure marma points where the energy paths cross. Blockages on these pathways limit the body's activity, and massage helps to release them. The length of the massage is about 70 minutes. Recommended once a month.

Ayurvedic massages

Nowadays, we lead a very comfortable life in many ways. Only a fraction of the working population finds time in their hectic, time-consuming lifestyles to engage the muscles that most of us don't have the opportunity (or the time) to engage in our normal lives. Constant worries, stress and lack of rest increase the occurrence of toxins in the body. The most natural and at the same time the easiest way to avoid this is massage.

Ayurvedic massages are part of almost everyday life in Sri Lanka. They significantly contribute to the overall relaxation of the body and mind, improve the functionality of movement body apparatus, the lymphatic system, they help wash away harmful substances from the body, increase immunity, eliminate mental fatigue and stress and, last but not least, slow down aging.

Massages are performed using purely natural oils, made from herbs, tree bark, seeds and fruits of various kinds. The type of oil, as well as the massage itself, depends on the patient's state of health, so it is completely individual. Herbal ointments and extracts can be used as additional preparations.

Panchakarma

A unique natural holistic program, consisting of five basic Ayurvedic procedures and rejuvenating agents: Vamana, Nasya, Viretan, Raktamokshana and Basti. Each of these procedures solves the imbalance of a specific dosha, that is, it works in the treatment of specific health problems. It deeply cleanses the body of toxins, thereby improving vital functions, strengthening the immune system, increasing vitality, providing inner peace and self-confidence. The composition of these procedures is compiled completely individually according to the health status of a specific client or patient.

It is not appropriate to believe that problems will be eliminated immediately after the first massage or therapy. It is only through regular completion of Ayurvedic therapies that gradual regeneration of the organism, mental and physical relaxation, and thus the induction of mental balance, occur.

Abhyanga

Basic, deeply relaxing and healing Ayurvedic massage of the whole body, performed using warm healing oil. The type of massage oil, as well as the length of the massage, is always chosen individually, according to the state of health and the needs of the person being massaged. Regular massage releases toxins from the body, improves the function of the circulatory system, and relieves muscle and joint stiffness. Massage strengthens the nervous and immune system, helps eliminate sleep disorders, tension, anxiety. The medicinal oils used significantly soften the skin, give it elasticity and a soft appearance, and help prevent many skin diseases. Abhyanga is used therapeutically in the treatment of arthritis, fluctuating blood pressure, asthma, polio, degenerative diseases of the locomotor system. In addition, it is also a well-chosen way of relaxation.

Shirodhara

This is followed by a massage of the back and neck. This therapy is very effective in the treatment of sleep disorders, headaches, fatigue caused by mental tension or disorders of the nervous system, it is very popular for its highly relaxing and relaxing effects.

A procedure that uses the action of medicinal oil on the head. The oil is kept on the head using a belt, the so-called cap made of leather. The oil is left in the cap for a certain time (the time depends on the patient's state of health), then it is poured out of the cap, followed by a massage of the neck, shoulders and back. This therapy is highly effective in the treatment of vision, hearing, nervous diseases, headaches, insomnia or facial paralysis. Nasya treats many serious diseases such as loss of consciousness, chronic headaches, insomnia, or facial paralysis. However, it is most often used both in the prevention of diseases of the upper respiratory tract and in its treatment. We perform it in combination with a facial massage.

It is important to apply the massage for at least 3 months in the time frame recommended by the professional masseur. It is focused primarily on the back, waist, neck, hands and feet. The most important aspect of a baby's massage is the massage of the spine, because this part of the body needs to be strengthened so that it can be a good support for the whole body. Massage is also beneficial for the scalp, as it removes dryness and strengthens the hair roots. Regular massage leads to ensuring the proper development of the child, peaceful sleep and overall satisfaction. We recommend baby massages from 3 months of age.
