Therapeutic effects of yoga help:
Improve breathing function
Breath plays an essential role in all yoga techniques and exercises. Research has shown that most people breathe too shallowly. As a result, the body is insufficiently supplied with oxygen, metabolism is reduced and, as a result, physical health is significantly damaged. Through yoga relaxation, body and breathing exercises, you can become aware of your breath and deepen it in a natural way. Regular exercise can eliminate incorrect breathing habits and gradually replace them with deep, relaxed breathing. By doing this, we will not only gain physical and mental health; this will clearly strengthen the vitality and defenses of our organism.
The way we breathe affects not only our physical health, but also our emotions and mental harmony. When we are stressed, afraid or upset, our breath is shallow and fast, while when we are relaxed it is deep and slow. By consciously and freely deepening our breath, we can regain the lost inner balance in stressful situations. In this way, with the help of calm breathing, we can learn to react to the worries and problems of everyday life and working life, we can positively influence our mental and physical balance.
With the help of breathing exercises, many people can learn not only to breathe more healthily, but also to alleviate the symptoms of such respiratory diseases as asthma or chronic bronchitis. Especially in asthma, the psyche plays a big role. It can be cured or at least alleviated with the help of relaxation, breathing exercises and lifestyle changes.
In diseases of the heart and blood circulation
An important goal of yoga exercises is also the elimination of risk factors that are the root of cardiovascular diseases. Poor diet, stress and lack of exercise are typical examples of risk factors. Easy, gradual physical exercises can stabilize the blood circulation, strengthen the vascular system and improve the quality of the work of the heart. Special breathing exercises improve the supply of oxygen and the output of carbon dioxide from the body, so that the body can gradually restore a natural balance between the need and supply of oxygen. Through relaxation exercises, patients achieve physical and mental relaxation.
In rheumatic complaints
Yoga exercises are effective not only in therapy, but also in the prevention of various rheumatic problems. They prevent e.g. stiffening of the spine and the appearance of rheumatic changes in the joints. Physical exercises stretch shortened and weakened muscles, which, with their stability, subsequently provide the joints with the necessary protection. The joints are gradually loaded up to their full range of motion, their mobility improves and blood circulation increases. In this way, the body gradually and naturally regains its healthy movement habits.
The reason why many people have to suffer the consequences of rheumatic changes in the joints, bones and muscles lies mostly in the wrong lifestyle. Overeating, high consumption of animal proteins and fats, lack of exercise and wrong habits in posture and body movements lead to degenerative and inflammatory changes in joints and muscles, stiffness and severe pain in them.
Special breathing exercises not only stimulate the metabolism, but also have a harmonizing effect on the vegetative nervous system and improve relaxation and overall physical well-being.
The success of Yoga exercises for problems of the musculoskeletal system lies primarily in a comprehensive view of the disease. The penetrating effects of exercises do not only lead to physical healing. Thanks to relaxation exercises, the patient achieves mental relaxation, learns to respond more patiently to stress and nervous tension, and can manage his daily work and family responsibilities more easily and better.
